‘84 C20
From a farm truck to a shop truck.
This 84 C20 lived its first life as a farm truck, until the untimely demise of the original 350ci small block engine.
When we purchased the truck, it was all original and nearly rust free, with only three small rust holes, a handful of dents, and more bent valves than straight ones.
The original plan was to rebuild the engine, make the truck road worthy, clean it up and sell it, but then I decided to make it my shop truck/tow pig. This means the original low budget plan was thrown out the window, and a lot of parts had to be sourced.
We found a deal on a daily driven ‘02 3/4 ton Silverado to cannibalize for the powertrain, cooling system, hydroboost, and rear end from.
So with a 6.0/4L80 combo in hand, parts orders were placed for the rest: BTR Truck Stage II cam, push rods, and valve springs, all new engine gaskets and seals, ARP head bolts, new GM oil pump, Speed Engineering Squarebody Is swap longtube headers, 3" stainless universal exhaust kit, v-bands, Dragonfire spark plug wires with added heat sleeves, ICT Billet motor mount plates and AC relocation bracket, and a Sanden 508 compressor. Two new 20gal EFI tanks, walbro in-tank fuel pumps, Finishline Factory AN hoses and fittings, Ruffstuff Specialties Simple Swap Kit leaf spring perches and shock tabs, all new door and window weatherstripping, new vent window glass and frame to replace the incorrect glass and bent frame. NVU gauges, reworked factory engine/ transmission harness, stock ECM.
